Sound System Show #14

April 24, 2007

We’re back with a One Take Sessions recap, known as the RossCast for the night given it was Mr. Costigan’s birthday. We’ve got music from the four acts on the night last week which were

Honestly, the quality of the lineups just keeps getting better and better, if you’ve the chance to see the ‘Sessions in action, drop into iD every third Thursday, with the next one going down on May 10th.

In between the songs we have a massive amount of chat from recapping Saturday night (the birthday), Ross makes a list of people he’d like to err…. yeah…, the war over brand name cereal continues, Ross reveals his mother thinks he has the sexiest voice on the podcast, we look at events from yesterday in history (Shakespeare was born and died on the 23rd of April, national beer day in Germany)… this list goes on.

We’re all on the mics for this show, enjoy the banter, the One Take Sessions and apologies if you get lost amongst the maze of conversation! Its myself (Ken) and Mickey up next week as the lads are away in Dublin for a gig, so until then, enjoy the 14th KilkennyMusic.com Sound System Podcast.

Sound System Show #13

April 16, 2007

13 might or might not be unlucky for some, but I think it had a bit of a crazy effect on the outcome of this podcast. It’s myself (Ken) and Ross on the mic with Daw on duty in the corner. Mickey, meanwhile, is pretending to be a cat up a tree on a motorbike.

Listen to the show and you’ll find out what that means!

In amongst the banter, looking back at the Slave Zero gig at the weekend, looking forward to the One Take Sessions this week, the Ground of Ruin gig in Carlow next week, Ross’ impending birthday, Veg Met 2007 (vegetarian metal festival that we’re starting) and a few other bits and pieces.

We’ve also got music from

A ’smidge’ of madness for this the 13th podcast. Enjoy the music - first time metal is featured on the show, and we’ll be back yet again next Monday night (or Tuesday) with show #14. Don’t forget as well to post your thoughts on the forum and drop in to the One Take Sessions this week, Thursday night 9:30pm in iD (The Widows).

Sound System Show #12

April 11, 2007

Seems like only yesterday and we hit show eleven (well, it was a week ago) but we’re trying to pull up our ole KilkennyMusic.com socks around here and get down to a weekly schedule where possible so here, fresh out of the bag is the 12th Sound System Podcast with KilkennyMusic.com. Not only that, but all four of us are on the show - Jesus!

We’ve got music from

  • Saving J - Bus Stop (New single, just released)
  • ODi - Crawl (New single, scheduled for April 27th release)
  • Mike Got Spiked - First Glimpse Of A Bigger Picture
  • My Evil Ex - 25 To Life

Since this is pretty much the first ‘proper’ Sound System since Christmas i.e. outside of the One Take Sessions, we take a look at a few changes going on around the site and things that have yet to reappear. There’s a few new requirements for gigs so we’re starting to lay down the law a little bit, props to Slave Zero over their Kilkenny show at the weekend just gone as they’ll be supporting Hatebreed in Dublin next Monday night…. there should be mention somewhere of upcoming gig dates and acts going to the One Take Sessions next Thursday night and its all wrapped up into 40 minutes of banter and music.

Until next time!

Sound System Show #11

April 5, 2007

The Chief and Boo are away so the 11th podcast falls into the most capable hands of Ross and Daw on the mic. Nice and short podcast for you today following the most recent (March 29th) One Take Sessions. On the night were DJ Glendon (not featured on podcast), Jimi Cullen, Brian McNamara and KKM favourites Nick Campus & Frank O’Connor. Trackwise we’ve got

  • Jimi Cullen - ‘Small minded people living in small towns’ (MySpace)
  • Brian McNamara - ‘Life Like Madonna‘ (MySpace)
  • Nick Campus & Frank O’Connor - ‘McDonald Farm Medley
  • *BONUS* - Jimi Cullen - ‘G&T On The Rocks’

Certainly one of the stronger lineups to date in terms of the ‘Sessions, thats for sure. Some terrific performances from those featured on the podcast (not that DJ didn’t put in a good set, he’s developed his own material well since his first outing) and hopefully we’ll see both Jimi and Brian back in the not-too-distant future.

No Ross - it wasn’t December, it was November 23rd!!

Disclaimer: Ken doesn’t have a disease… despite vicious podcast rumours.
