Inner Surge Winner Announced

January 31, 2008

Last week, I had cross posted a competition from PlaylistMix.com highlighting the giveaway of ‘An Offering’, the new album from Canadian progressive metal band Inner Surge.

The winner was from Kilkenny, with Ian Healy bagging a copy of the album, going out in the post to you this week - congratulations.

If you’d like to get a copy of the album for yourself, you can order direct online from InnerSurge.com for only CA$10 (a pure bargain) with free shipping.

More competitions and giveaways coming soon.

Sound System Podcast #39

January 31, 2008

Sound System Podcast #39It’s Ken and Ross back on the mic again for podcast 39 with KilkennyMusic.com.

The banter is there again this week with talk of everything between Jeremy Beadle’s death today, to the protesting of Kilkenny’s new lap dancing club, the Irish Blog Awards (where Kilkenny bloggers represent well in round 1), media whoring in 2008, a chat with National Geographic, CreativeCamp, bemoaning the lack of gigs in Kilkenny at the moment and so much more.

More importanly - there’s music, and some podcast EXCLUSIVES at that!

We’ve got tracks from

The winner of last week’s competition to give away a copy of Inner Surge’s new album is also announced and no doubt there’s a few more bits in between.

Until next week,

Enjoy.

Sound System Podcast #38

January 24, 2008

Apollo Creed on Show 38Ross returns! Den den dennnnnnnnn…..

And so does the Sound System Podcast for a very random show for number 38.

There’s all kinds of talk, from the recent news of Heath Ledger’s untimely demise to current projects, becoming media whores in 2008, local band news, gigs in Kilkenny, Chemical Addiction, the insanity of some religious groups in America, turning Google into a ninja, breast cancer awareness, the Irish Blog Awards and loads more.

Of course, there’s music also with tracks from four more Irish acts for you including

  • Apollo Creed - ‘The Doctor’
  • Penfold DM - ‘Bus Ride’
  • Identity Parade - ‘16′
  • Cold Ways - ‘Conflict’

We still haven’t made it back to studio A for the podcasting, hopefully returning there next week (where you can get tea), Ross had to bring his travel mug to studio B this evening and as for me, well, I just went without.

Keep the songs coming in, keep your news coming in if you have it and enjoy show #38.

We’ll do it all again next week… or so they say…

Sound System Podcast #37

January 18, 2008

20 Bulls Each on Show 37So we finally arrive back with the first podcast of 2008, just over a month since our last one!

So much has happened in between and, in all honesty, another podcast had been recorded as a Christmas special with an intended 2-week podbreak to follow but we scrapped the original show 37 due to political controversy and as a result wound up with a sizeable podbreak, longer than expected.

But, we’re back and show 37 - special and all as it is to Mr. Costigan - but Ross isn’t on the show at all!

It’s myself and Daw on the mics in what is a very chilled out Sound System Podcast. In fairness, it’s also one of the latest we’ve recorded, starting the ball rolling around midnight before the hard drive started to play tricks on Pro Tools. Damn hard drives.

In amongst our interesting and strange rants for this week you’ll find music from

  • Saving J - ‘Valentine’ (New single release)
  • Decadation - ‘Retribution’ (Upcoming single release)
  • 20 Bulls Each - ‘Patron Saint’ (Fail Records, 2006)
  • Atrax Mantis - ‘On No God’ (Demo release)

Transmission resumes as usual, I’m guessing, with myself and Ross for next week as we get back in the swing of podcasting for 2008. Only another 13 weeks before hitting show number 50 which would set us up nicely for the summer.

Until then,

Enjoy.
