Sound System Podcast #47
March 27, 2008
It’s a slow news week in Kilkenny - two back-to-back bank holiday weekends will do that to a town, but there are things to look forward to! We’re looking ahead to music this weekend as the gig scene resumes some sense of normality as we welcome Acrojunk, Deaf Animal Orchestra, Saving J, The Kinetiks and all the One Take Sessions acts to town on a busy weekend.
On this weeks podcast, along with the gig details, you’ll find news and information on The Devious Theatre Company’s proposed performance of Trainspotting and how you can get involved; there’s some random celebrity news, talk of things on the forum and a big look ahead to tomorrow night’s One Take Sessions (which will be covered in next week’s podcast).
We had to move to a previously unused studio tonight and wouldn’t you know, the gremlins strike, delaying the recording by about 30 minutes before having to change out mics, battle with clock syncing problems and more, so if you get a little hiss in your ears then blame the gremlins - not us! All will return to normal next week, we swear!
There’s also music from
- Bright Light Fiasco - ‘Misfit’
- Nassau Royal - ‘Outer Space Heroes’
- The Shed - ‘The Parson, The Pauper, The Peeping Tom’s Daughter’
- Paranoid Visions - ‘9 Months To The Disco’
*note, last week’s podcast didn’t feature a Nassau Royal track as previously mentioned in the show notes. There is, in fact, a brand new track from new act ‘The Lions Mane’ whose EP is released later this year. Another SoundSystemPodcast.com exclusive that the gremlins ate in the show notes. Also, the Paranoid Visions MySpace address was given out incorrectly on the podcast, see the proper link above!
*another note / update: dawned on me afterwards that The Kinetiks didn’t win the Hope For 2008 award (though nominated). It was of course, Ham Sandwich, who we had mentioned as winners on a previous show and via KKM.
Gonna go feed the gremlins to the zombies out back…. later.

Of course, there’s also music from
- Saints Of Descent - ‘One Word’
- Brigantia - ‘Ride To The Sabbath’
- Acrojunk - ‘Man Or Machine’
- The Lions Mane - ‘The Dragons Breath’
Don’t forget - if you want to get involved, have your say, submit your music and your gigs you can do so as always be emailing us - podcast@kilkennymusic.com. Don’t forget too - the One Take Sessions return for the second outing of 2008 next Thursday night (March 27th), if you’re around, come join us in Cleere’s Theatre in Kilkenny for another four acts and a night full of new music.

Sound System Podcast #45
March 13, 2008
Well well well. We’re back for number 45 with a One Take Sessions special. Not even one hint of the catchphrase tonight… “four acts four tracks” so thought I’d mention it in the blog post!
We are indeed back for another week’s show and we’ve got live music from each of Stace Gill, Jill Deering, Kevin McNamara and the lads from Jester, all of who were guests at the One Take Sessions in Cleere’s Theatre last Thursday, March 6th.
There’s also a quick look back to CreativeCamp, the return of the Underground gigs, upcoming gigs this weekend, the launch of State magazine, some updates on DownloadMusic.ie and plenty more.
If you enjoy the acts this week then why not come down for the next night of the ‘Sessions, it all kicks off again at 9:30pm on Thursday March 27th.
Tracks for this week include
- Stace Gill - ‘The Show’
- Jill Deering - ‘Sweet September’
- Kevin McNamara - ‘The Stalker’
- Jester - ‘Romantic Fool’
Until next week… enjoy.
