Sound System Podcast #55

A day late, a buck short and all that carry on. The 55th Sound System Podcast touched down online just moments ago. I’ll apologise for the delay, due largely in part to the presence of the Champions League Final, some wine, some cheese, some ham, some Corona and finally, some sleep.

Sound System Podcast #54

Despite the introduction to the contrary (podcast 55), this is actually show #54 and it is a One Take Sessions special with highlights from last Thursday night’s (May 8th) One Take Sessions.

So some of the gremlins are gone, there’s a change in the hosting lineup and we’ve got a One Take Sessions special. Mickey rejoins the podcast and will be taking to the mic for the next few weeks as well as Ross ties up exams and the likes. A happy birthday too to Mr. Costigan who gets to celebrate his birthday with at least a deserving night off!

Can I issue a minor gremlin alert for this show? Thanks in no small part to my rushing around on a Wednesday night, losing a day in the week and not actually realising it was Wednesday, while recording in a secret location that used to be Studio A but is making way (by renovation) for a photo studio?

Outside of that, we’ve landed at Podcast #50. Having started back in October 2006 we’ve reached the 50th Sound System Podcast and you’ve got the pleasure of hearing Ross once more, who seems to be out of his thesis cage and back on the airwaves.

We’re back once again with the Sound System Podcast - or at least I’m back once again anyway. For the second time in as many weeks I’m flying solo, Ross taking some time out from podcast duties to wrap up his final year thesis (the end is in sight dude!).

Sound System Podcast #47

It’s a slow news week in Kilkenny - two back-to-back bank holiday weekends will do that to a town, but there are things to look forward to! We’re looking ahead to music this weekend as the gig scene resumes some sense of normality as we welcome Acrojunk, Deaf Animal Orchestra, Saving J, The Kinetiks and all the One Take Sessions acts to town on a busy weekend.

On this weeks podcast, along with the gig details, you’ll find news and information on The Devious Theatre Company’s proposed performance of Trainspotting and how you can get involved; there’s some random celebrity news, talk of things on the forum and a big look ahead to tomorrow night’s One Take Sessions (which will be covered in next week’s podcast).

We had to move to a previously unused studio tonight and wouldn’t you know, the gremlins strike, delaying the recording by about 30 minutes before having to change out mics, battle with clock syncing problems and more, so if you get a little hiss in your ears then blame the gremlins - not us! All will return to normal next week, we swear!
